Waves on Day One

Liberian National Amputee Soccer Team

true inspiration

Monrovia

lots of nice portraits today
Liberia Day One:
We scored some fun waves in the morning, randomly stumbled accross the Liberian National Amputee Soccer Team and hung out for a bit, and checked out the city of Monrovia… The poverty level is a bit overwhelming and it is tricky taking photos; some people want their photos taken and others get extremely pissed at the sight of a camera- I think this is because of the war that ended not too long ago and they are used to seeing journalists documenting their hardships, not trying to shed new light on a country with a bad reputation. It was pretty intense though, I had one guy get really mad and started yelling and causing a scene, I didn’t even take a photo- I was simply holding my camera and he flipped out; then a bunch of people surrounded me to see what was going on. It was gnarly, I bailed.
We had a nice dinner this evening with the whole surf community (about ten people) and we are gonna hit the waves again early tomorrow. Not sure, If I will have much internet in the coming days, but I will upload photos and blogs when I can.
Much love and all the best…
Happy Travels,
Sean Brody
